Scientific Name: Cornus florida
A beloved ornamental tree featuring showy white springblooms, red fall berries, and vibrant foliage. Can reach 15 to 40ft high and can spread 12 to 20ft wide. Grows at a low rate of 13-24″ per year. Flowering dogwood likes moist, rich soils that are well drained. Can tolerate full sun or shade. Very wide range of wildlife rely on the fruit of the flowering dogwood. Birds include turkey, ruffed grouse, bobwhite, a variety of woodpeckers, and many others.
